Panthers appoint Steve Maxwell as 2010 Senior Coach – August 10, 2009

South Adelaide Panthers FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Maxwell as their Senior Coach for 2010.

The former Australian International and Adelaide City star joins the Panthers having recently completed coaching duties at the Adelaide Hills Hawks in the role of Senior Coach.

Maxwell said “ I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Hawks, with the highlights being winning the Premier League championship in 2008 and the fact we managed to develop some great young local players and give them opportunities in the Super league “.

In another move Steve Weightman will return to the Panthers in an advisory capacity to facilitate its rebuilding process. His first task was to source and appoint a Senior Coach.

Weightman said” We are delighted to have secured Steve Maxwell as our Senior Coach, its not everyday that someone of his caliber, both as a former player and now coach, comes along. Our next step is to look at retaining our best players, attracting new players, then rolling out our new Junior Talent Identification Program”.

The appointment of Maxwell is seen as a major step towards the Panthers rebuilding a competitive Senior team whilst putting in place Talent Identification programs to ensure its Juniors have every opportunity of fulfilling their potential.

If a 3rd trial is required, coaches will confirm times.

Players must trial in their own age group.

Opportunities to play up an age group will be assessed by the Talent Identification Panel
